My Journey with Catholic Campus Ministry
In my first semester of college in August 2019, I joined Bloomsburg Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM), a student organization whose mission is to provide a welcoming community of faith, friends, and fellowship. As a homesick freshman longing for connection, CCM quickly became my "home away from home." Little did I know that just a few months later, this newfound community would be disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In March 2020, I was sent home and transitioned to 100% online classes. It was a tough adjustment. That summer, I made the difficult choice to remain home while continuing online coursework and wouldn’t be returning to campus in the fall. I was especially disappointed, as I had just joined CCM’s Leadership Team, where I was looking forward to planning social events, leading service projects, and hosting Bible study groups. I didn’t think I’d be able to contribute from a distance, but God had something in store for me. Shortly after the semester began, the Associate Director of CCM asked if I’d help run the club’s Instagram account. I was ecstatic. As a Media and Journalism major, content creation came naturally, and this opportunity allowed me to apply my classroom knowledge in a real-world setting.
I managed @bloomsburgccm IG until I graduated in May 2023. I’m incredibly grateful for the experience, as it produced growth personally, professionally, and spiritually. Below are the graphics & videos I created using Canva, Photoshop, and iMovie.
